Hard Shaving Soaps

Shaving soaps produce a thicker, denser lather. It requires more effort and time to create lather compared to shaving creams, but the resulting lather tends to be more cushioning and protective. They need to be lathered with a shaving brush, usually in a bowl or directly on the face.

Soaps are firmer and come in different forms. Hard soaps are available in  in a hard puck-like form and some are triple milled.

Which shaving soap is long-lasting?

Martin de Candre is a top contender for the best long-lasting shaving soap. Manufactured using a hot saponification process, it is made with only vegetable oils and potassium, with no added preservatives. The soap is scented with essential oils while still hot, and undergoes a long drying and aging process that lasts 4 to 5 months. This meticulous process results in a very dense soap with an exceptional scent and composition. Known for its remarkable longevity, a 200g jar of Martin de Candre can last over a year for a typical daily wet shaver, making it an excellent choice for those seeking durability and superior performance.

How should you store shaving soap to maintain its longevity?

After each use, allow the soap to dry completely. Avoid leaving it in a wet environment, as excess moisture can soften the soap and reduce its longevity. Store the soap in a well-ventilated area.
