Boker - Herr Feldmann Straight Razor, 6/8", Barber's Notch, Curly Birch Handles
Contrary to what the name might suggest, the pilgrimage site for fans of skillful beard care in the Marienhof-Passage in Mönchengladbach has nothing to do with an apparition of Mary. The creator of the secular place of pilgrimage is Alexander “Herr” Feldmann, who effortlessly manages to stand out once again within the colorful and varied barber scene.
Even the straightforward, sober name appearance "Herr Feldmann | barber - a hairdresser - second hair" reveals that Alexander Feldmann defines his profession somehow differently and also quite broadly than his colleagues. This noticeable otherness developed completely out of his craft because both of his parents have always worked as hairdressers. His mother still runs a popular barbershop in New York, where he too was allowed to learn the basics of his trade. He visits them regularly in the States, of course also to exchange ideas. And gradually it is no longer clear at first glance from which direction trends and technologies are changing across the Atlantic.
Unlike most barbers, Mr. Feldmann naturally only uses traditionally made razors and no interchangeable blades for a wet shave. He carefully prepares the skin for this in several steps. First, a treatment with shaving oil takes place, then a hot compress is placed on the face. High-quality shaving cream is then applied, which is then covered with warmed shaving foam from a foaming machine specially procured in the USA. The customer experiences the careful shave with extensive preparation on one of the two barber chairs made in Chicago in the Roaring Twenties, which performed their most prominent service on the luxurious German cruise ship Cap Polonio.
This type of classic shave is only possible thanks to the consistently implemented hygiene concept. The disinfection of all tools after each customer and the weekly hygiene briefings that Alexander Feldmann and his employees have always carried out are all the more important in times of COVID-19. Mr. Feldmann himself is a brand that is very close to his heart. Black trousers, a white shirt, suspenders, a red tie, and sleeve holders all make for the same dignified appearance. And of course a magnificent and always well-groomed beard.
The fact that extraordinary knives are also created in cooperation with extraordinary barbers is Boker heritage. The blade with a barber's notch and serration on both sides is ground extra hollow with a wall. In addition to the 6/8 inch wide blade, Alexander Feldmann's straight razor of choice impresses with at least two other highlights: The blade etching is laid out in red and matches perfectly with the handle made of stabilized and colored curly birch, which is also provided with a fine engraving. Comes with authentic Boker stamp in the blade, certificate of authenticity and in classic packaging.
