The Edwin Jagger Black Synthetic Shaving Brush is made in Sheffield and pairs a modern synthetic knot with a lightweight polyester handle. The handle has a smart, classic look and comes in Imitation Ivory, Imitation Ebony or Imitation Tortoise Shell.
Synthetic fiber is an ethical, vegan friendly and more affordable choice than badger hair, without giving up performance. The black fibers hold plenty of hot water, so they whip soap or cream into a rich, creamy lather that feels much like a traditional badger brush.
The fibers are firm through the center, which helps the 21 mm knot keep its shape shave after shave. They also dry very quickly and resist the lather residue that tends to build up in natural hair, so upkeep is simple.
If you have sensitive skin, this is a brush worth considering. Synthetic tips are the softest of any brush fill, giving a gentle, comfortable feel on the face.
After shaving, rinse under warm running water no hotter than 45°C and shake out the excess. Plain water is all it needs, so avoid detergents, borax and vinegar. A drip stand is optional and sold separately.
